William and I had another go at trading off our mad skillz!

he modeled this creature based on a Cicada in a coupple hours and passed the model on to me so I could lend my eye to a render.

Anyway, here is the image. Hope you dig it!

I'll ask william to post some wireframes also.

Creepy indeed. I like it - nice texture. Care to share the setting? ;) :p

thanks dzogchen,

I just used Crumple and Crust in the Bump Channels and a 4 light setup. I also assigned an Incident Angle white to black gradient to a 50% Luminosity Channel and dropped my Diffuse to 50%.

I then rendered out the scene in 4 light passes and composited them in Photoshop.

Newtek should be posting a tutorial on this on Monday.

hope that helps. let me know if you need me to post a snapshot of my Texture settings. :)

Thanks Policarpo. One thing I don't understand. Rendered out in 4 light passes, does that mean render out 4 times with one light turn on at a time?

It would be great if you could post a snapshot of the texture settings. I am a visual learner. :wavey:
