Especially with the news about Pixar's Cars pushed back. This became the obvious reason for it.

Well on Jim Hill media, he had said they were having problems with there 3rd act and might push it because of that, so it might be a combination of both. Just depends if they are just changing the release date like Pixar or are they changing the completion date of the movie as well.

I haven't been able to find any other sites that confirm that push back date. :(

Both of the official sites (as of 8:38 AM CST) are still showing the Summer date:

I wonder what's going on at boxofficemojo?

Cool. Guess we'll have to wait and see what happens.

It's gonna suck if it's true, not a good sign for sure.

Why is it not a good sign? A movie that's been pushed back doesn't mean that it's having problems. Pixar pushed back Cars. Is that a good sign?

Well... Cars also hasn't been widely reported to have had *serious* story problems either. I also seem to remember that this isn't the first time Chicken Little has been pushed back. (I could be wrong here though, anyone else remember if it's been pushed back before?) Plus, Pixar has had a bit better run lately, wouldn't ya say? ;)

At this stage of the game, and going by past performances (the last 5 years), I'm not worried about Pixar's delay, but Disney's does have me worried.

Here is an article about the uphill battle Chicken Little faces.

http://www.jimhillmedia.com/mb/articles/showarticle.php?ID=1181
Either way, Disney is going to have an uphill battle promoting "Chicken Little." DreamWorks can say “from the creators of 'Shrek' and 'Sharks Tale' ” and Pixar can just say “Pixar Pixar Pixar”. But there is nothing “Disney” about "Chicken Little." There are no princesses, no fairy tale elements, no big Broadway melodies. And the voices are less a who’s who than a simple ‘who?’ "Scrubs" and "Garden State" ’s Zach Braff leads the group, followed by Amy Sedaris, Steve Zahn, Joan Cusack and Don Knotts. Not a whole lot for the marketing folk to work with. (Creatively, however, big name actors and actresses don’t necessarily make the movie, look at the smaller name cast of "The Incredibles" that were, quite frankly, incredible …)

So Disney faces a huge risk opening "Chicken Little." If this movie doesn’t open with huge numbers, what will happen? Is there any chance that "Chicken Little" can open like the three computer animation movies of 2004? "Shrek 2," "Sharks Tale" and "The Incredibles" all set records. If the little rooster doesn’t perform in line with these films, you can only assume there will be lots of unhappy Mousketeers in Burbank next July.

I really hope CL is good and does do well at the box office. But I am still worried about it, and worried for the animators & their jobs if it doesn't do well. They have got to have an enormous amount of pressure on them right now.
