Those are pretty big names for a "b" movie. I'd wait and see how it develops.

Didn't they learn anything from house of the dead? that director should not have a career.

I am downloading the teaser, but I am not even sure about Loken on this movie...she doesn't look like BloodRayne at all...and IMO that's one of the best parts of the game :D

"sigh" I feel offended by this teaser... whoever gave his approval for such a masterpiece, obviously excels by passion & love for detail. I will never understand the logic that leads to such works.

Bust it out... I've never seen it.

By the way, the Halo 2 commercials look pretty nice.

O.K. I have not read the other page of this thread, and I've never played this game, but I've seen it. It looks cool, but this teaser looks like crap at this stage, but I imagine it's pretty early, and much will be done with it.

Well after I saw the teaser for "a distant sound of thunder" I'm less surprised to see him in this. Why Madsen? Or Rodriguez? Looks like they're trying to market a schlock film to fans of Tarantino, Resident Evil, and Mario Bros. ;)

This teaser makes the "Megaman" trailer by some hack students I saw look good.

Come again? I'm a fan of Tarantino, and I don't find this appealing in the least. It doesn't even remotely resemble anything Tarantino would direct. Besides, if he did a film like this it would likely ruin his career. Yet, somehow Uwe Boll is able to make a living turning decent video games into atrocious films. Go Figure.

I saw this trailer ages ago, when I was the head animator on Bloodrayne2. I don't think any of that footage is from the actual movie. They were trying to quickly make a trailer to stick on the game DVD, but they included a behind the scenes of Advent Rising instead. (I think mainly because this teaser isn't very appealing.)

With that said, I'm not defending the movie or it's $20 million budget. I think it will be a terrible movie. I think Uwe Boll is a horrible director. I like the idea of creating movies from popular game licenses (for the same reason I like reading Casting Call in Wizard magazine), but Uwe definetly prefers quantity over quality.

Uh.... that was my point? Michael Madsen is in it, so am drawing the conclusion that this is a half-assed attempt at attracting the Tarantino crowd. Of course it won't work! Sorry, in the absence of an html function to illustrate sarcasm, I need to explain when I am being sarcastic in future. My bad. :banghead: (boy I love these new smileys!)

btw: guys, I highly reccomend looking up the "trailer" for Megaman (http://www.planet-megaman.com/mmmovie/) (you know, the little blue fella released for the Nintendo Entertainment System back in the day?) just to illustrate why I think it is waaaay better than this.

[oh and thanks for the Halo 2 compliment...just got word today that it has moved over 5.2 million units and 311 million buckaroonies...pretty humbling and impressive - funny thing is, I am looking forward to Rise of the Kasai just as much!]

"They were trying to quickly make a trailer to stick on the game DVD"

That sounds about right, they did the same with the House of the Dead on the Xbox. It made the film look really bad. Worse than it actually turned out to be (which if you've seen the film, you know is pretty impressive!).

I'm sure I've read that the trailer for Alone in the Dark isn't from the finished film. I can't believe both Christian Slater and Stephen Dorff would sign up to a film that was as bad as House of the Dead turned out to be.

For the love of god let's hope that they don't try cutting footage from the game in again...

Am I the only one who sometimes likes to just kick back and watch a movie?

Look, Uwe makes movies that are b-quality to be sure, but why not? He has fun, he makes the studio money and he gets to create what he wants in a way that pleases him.

I should be so lucky.

Dear god, what the hell are Ben Kingsley and Michael Madsen doing in an Uwe Boll flick?!

Geta-Ve
06-28-2005, 06:01 AM
ya i was suprised to see madsen in this as well.. hes a great actor.. and the girl for the main character looks like crap..

what I dont understand is.. why its so damn hard to make a movie based off of a gamers story line, why the hell do they have to change things?! the best example is with the doom games.. it has no story at all anymore.. though imo the doom books were alot better than the games (by games i am referring to number3 because 1 and 2 didnt really have a story) but you know what i mean?

what ever happened to getting people that actually LOOKED something like the original source material? er.. not that i can think of anything that ever did that..

bah bAH BAH!

this is why i stick to my anime. anime can do no wrong ^_^ (except if that anime happens to be beyblade, then it can officially burn in the hell it came from)

I hear that!

It's not just Doom though, our good friend Uwe Boll is also guilty as charged. I understand Rayne is a vampire and has been about for a long time, but you have a successful game, set during the second world war, and a sequal set a bit later. So why set the film in the 1700s?

It just sounds as stupid as making a film called House of the Dead and setting it on an island without an actual house on it.....

.... oh, wait.....

white dragon

what does actually worry me is that in years to people might look back at these films with the same fondness as an Ed Wood flick. *shudders*

haha, I think I would tend to agree. There are plenty of B movies done by people doing what they want that do not suck. Watch those instead. Supporting crap only leads to more crap!
