herve ( nuro ) groussin has entered the Grand Space Opera 2D.
Challenge Page (http://www.cgnetworks.com/challenge/grandspaceopera/view_entries.php?challenger=5451)
Latest Update: Final Image: the last launch
http://www.cgnetworks.com/challenge/entries/6/5451/5451_1105715011_medium.jpg (http://www.cgnetworks.com/challenge/entries/6/5451/5451_1105715011_large.jpg)
I finished the last stage, that of the final drawing. I added two design of space ship to give more movement in the composition.
The use of the traces of clouds in the drawing is an easy way to add curves. I like to depict this kind of thing to reinforce this feeling of chaos.
Even if little of anybody is come to see the WIP, I really was pleased to carry out this challenge.
To immerse me in what I like above all, to manufacture drawings and decorations on the topic of the SF.
I thank everybody.

hello evryone !!!
I m happy to do this challenge, I have to start by making research of compositions, of light, masses volume.
For the creation of these drawings, I used key word, and references.
Key word: Planet, battle, space ship, glass, transparency, steel, star, deep,
I like Syd Mead, J.Berkey, Doug Chang, Ryan Church, Streamline, art nouveau, ultra futurist. this my references.
First proposal for the composition and the lighting.
Hope you\\\'ll like it!!

working monochromatically is a good approach. I like your ideas, from what I can see, especially the ship (bottom) which sort of looks like a whale or shark looming towards the viewer. good stuff.

studies color,
of course , I think to change the spaceship design first plan.

These days if, I realize drafts of the space ship to find good designs.
I show the first research. I will like to know what you think, so that I can go on the good way.
Well on, I like much them designs of Ryan church and syd mead and that can feel some. I admire and I take as a starting point some these famous illustrators. I study their work and I seek there interesting things in term of style but I do not forget above all, only I must work my own sensitivity and personality.

Very nice rendering. The simple lines and curves really brings out the form. Is it possible to put a short comment about the characteristics of the spaceship you have design. Its great to look at them but I could only guess what there purpose are for. There is a reason for the way they look right? Keep up the good work.

I realized of other search for drawings, I worked of the more organic forms. I like this. I hope that you will like that.

Really nice drawings! I especially like the last one you posted, it has a giant sea turtle thing going on which I think could serve as a nice analogy between sea travel to space travel. Good luck.

the last one's good, it'll be interesting if you work with a range of ship designs ranging from organic to inorganic for the final.

Hello evryone.
I start by making in level of gray all volumes. I generally turn over my image for the composition.

I started to work the details and the colors. Now, I concentrate more on architecture and the design of the Space ship .
I add the shades and I always continue to embellish the details drawing .

It's looking good. The details are coming along quite nicely. The explosion looks good, too, and i hope that you will continue to add some more warm tones to this piece. Good luck!

Ok, ça déchire.
Surement un peu trop 70's au niveau design pour moi, mais la qualité est là ^_^.

WoW
Nice rendering Nuro! So you think not many people saw your WIPs?
You might be right on that one. I saw this little concept piece which i thought was nice, but wouldnt deliver a big punch in the end. So i just saw this finished piece and it looks superb!
Youre choice of colors and the clarity of the picture are very high!
Id like to posses that kind rendering skills. Well seeya in the next challenge. Hope i can be better adversary to you then :)

Those warmer hilights look great! So, too, does the addition of the other ships and smoke in the scene. Overall a great rendering, nice work!
Is the smaller ship on the lower reight supposed to be the same model as the one in the upper left? It feels like it's supposed to be, but the lower one feels like it's bent, corved along the line of its movement, and that feels weird to me. All of the other small ships are straight, so seeing a curved one feels like it doesn't math the rest of the piece.
Also, it took a dozen views of this piece before i even realized that the explosions in the background were on a ship. The black ship on the black sky is next to unreadible. You could consider adding more ornage hilights to that ship, or adding more lighter colored space dust behind the ship (extending out what you're doing around the planet) to make it read as a silhouette on a lighter color. I think that having that ship read more clearly will help you get across what you're trying to.
good luck, don't stop now!

this a nice vision for the space opera , great design and atmosphere !
hello evryone
This week end, I had the desire to re-examine the illustration but I had too much problem and I could not work. it's a great pity for this challenge.
I will make the modifications that walrus said, With regard to the design of the space ship in top on the left it is not the same one as that in the foreground, I will re-examine the design in the foreground and also to give him another direction. With regard to the space ship with far in explosion, it’s true that it is not very visible because I did not want only he is. By consequence, I do not think of improving it immediately, but already I have large final improvements to make
Thank you Falcor _, but it has much of anybody on this forum. Blow it has good positive points and of other negative. Even me I did not have time to see all. Well on Mandrik it fact of the wonders but it does not have only him.
Damage, which it is not more time for this challenge, especially that this subject gave me really desire of to exceed me, but I have much additional work.
Very thanx
