I need a basketball, baseball, and tennis ball for a simple little generic sports intro thingy.

I've found plenty in MAX format to use, but not maya (or obj, fbx, or any generic format like that.)

If you could point me to some free ones or some tutorials on how to bust one of these out real quick (in maya), it'd be very much appreciated.

Thanks.

tennisballs and basketballs :argh: ouch that's a tough one luckely you don't need a rugby ball :scream:, heheh sorry I couldn't resist.

A sphere wouldn't do because of the poles, so a smoothed polygon cube with the smooth divisions set to 3 or even 4 and continuity of 1 gives you an easy to texture uv map with only the minimum of distortion all over the ball. I would add detail in texture.
A subdivision cube might do the trick also.

Good luck

Correct me if I'm wrong, but as far as I know there is a 3dsmax import tool for maya. you should also consider to search for such models at turbosquid (there are a lot of free models on that site).
