View Full Version : Still practicing. Painted picture of a girl.
TheBaron 08-29-2002, 02:15 PM This took me 30 to 40 minutes in painter. I'm still trying to use my tablet to it's full advantage. Hopefully this is better than my Alien Bully picture.
I find it difficult to draw smooth curved lines freehand on my tablet, although that could either be me or my EasyPen tablet. I may spend more time on this picture later but I wanted to show my progress for now. Here's hoping I'm improving :)
Cheers.

And how. all my tablet stuff looks really sketchy. I can see a definite improve ment on this one. I think that if you use a photograph for refrence, you will improve even more.

Here's a quick sketch from the front page of the book "Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain" (Which is brilliant by the way.)
This was about 3 minutes.

the key is quick dtroks\es to avoid that woblly sketchy effect, and draw from yourshoulder not from your wrist (this can e hard on the smaller tablets like my graphire but still try to do it , it will hlep)

Thanks for the advice Kaiskai, it does seem to help.
Cockofthewok: you were right using a photo to work from certainly made a difference.
The server my pictures are on is currently down. Anyone know of a good picture uploader?

Oh never mind they're working again.
Here's a quick colouring job on my second image.

The Baron,
I remember reading in that book back when I was going through it that one common mistake many people make is cutting off the forehead...
and you did just that in the last pic you posted... :)
fix it!:D
