View Full Version : Compose Question
bradenbickle 12-06-2004, 06:09 AM I can't be the only one experiencing problems like this. Quite frankly it's too hard to even explain. Just take a look at these files.
I have a rig from Joe Cosmans tutorials and wanted to create a walk cycle and repeat it.
I did something real simple so I wouldn't waste a lot of time.
There's a base rig
A rig with Clip applied
A rig with Cut applied
What am I missing? I want to get this figured out before I dive into a real project.
Thanks

My experience with compose in Messiah is that the repeat function doesn’t work. I have asked for other users application of the repeat function, but only people with no success with this function replied to my posting – must be a bug?????
I manage to make your file (with repeat) work in an older version of messiah.

Yes and no on the repeat function bug.
After I made the first and end frames match up the repeat worked great.
What I'm having problems with now is that the arms don't want to do anything.
When I do an overlap, jump animation, the additive blending doesn't happen quite the way I had invisioned.
I don't think there are bugs, but it's a persnickity feature that requires things to be exact, and unfortunately, there's not a lot of information as far as trouble shooting goes.

Which version did you use that worked?

Hi Braden,
I couldn't unzip your examples so I cant see exactly what you have.
Have you tried changing the IK switch next to the track in compose? I usually have to change this to 'after IK' or "M" to get my arms to work with repeat cycles. This has something to do with how expressions are calculated with compose. My rigs are also based on Joe Cosmans rig.
This may help, but I'm sorry if it doesn't
Bill.

I've tried all of the various settings and none of them worked.
When I turned off all of the expressions for the arms, everything worked fine.
Not sure why.
This, of course, sucks because in order to use compose I can't have any IK on the arms.
I'm going to keep playing around and see exactly what causes the problem.
