Here it is, my version of the classic arwing as it appears in Starwing for the SNES. Well, A WIP, and the closest I could get it anyway. I found some line art on the net and pictures. Further I used my User manual from the game for details. The official model as they appear in the manual and aparrantly the models on the internet are slightly different from the line art. So it is still a guess as to what would be the TRUE classic arwing.

I'm having some trouble finding out what the attachmentsblocks for the wingflaps(the pointy things) and the wings look like. Not to menion whether or not the wings are hollow, such as the model of which pictures can be found through google.

Does anyone here know how to get better reference images? I like to finish the connection pieces and the wings, but I'm kinda stuck....

First of all I think your talking about starfox, love the idea. The nintendo 64 an gamecube has starfox games *of course the ships are in 3d* and i'm sure you don't want to completely copy them but I would suggest taking a look at them to help get the basic form of the fighter down (though it does look complete to me, just needs a skin).

Actually the N64 and gamecube games have different arwings. There's yet another version in the spinoff Starfox adventures, designed by Rare. Starfox 2 initially had slightly modified arwings as well but that game didn't get past beta, and I din't find any line art of these versions either.
The threads title says CLASSIC arwing :) :bounce: . Which looked more robust and as I found out during reserach, actually has all the indications, lights radars etc that current jet fighters have. The later, well at least the N64 version has none of that. The Gamecube version isn't even out yet, and I haven't found any line art for that version.

I won't start with the skin btw untill the geometry is finished.

Starfox for the SNES was called Starwing in the PAL territories (at least in the UK)

thank you, Yes I allready knew about them. The page where the line art for the classic arwing is displayed also has the to-black-and-white converted N64 version, and line art for the landmaster and the blue marine.

The thing I'm kind of pinned down on, is the connecting block between the main hull and the G diffuser. (at least, that's what they call the blue things in the N64 version) I know more or less how the connecting piece between the main hull and the wings are, but I do not know if the wings can rotate with them, and wheteher the wings are hollow or not. I once found this site with a picture of an arwing model, the same as you see in the manual from the SNES game, shown slightly from behind. It's wings were hollow. But this could very well be just because it was a toy to keep the wings from breaking off or allow them to rotate or whatever. But on this official picture from the arwing as shown on alteka's site,
(http://alteka.nothsa.com/media/mech...nes/lineart.htm < the link since you were so kind to allready provide it here.), the wings are solid......

Well, from what I observed on the diagrams, the G-Diffusers are connected to the main body with a slender and long cylindrical connectors. The wings are part of the main body and should be solid pieces because the upgraded secondary laser cannons are located inside the wings itself.

Since there's not many sources available, you can make it up as you go along. Just as long as its recognisable.

And BTW, I was the guy who provided the source pic of the laser cannon and 3/4 view picture of the Arwing a few years back. :scream: I'm surprised the images are still around these days.

The images were originally from the Japanese SNES StarFox walkthrough guide book and contains images
- two additional prototype scouting Arwings piloted by a ring-tailed lemur and a bear. But they died delivering the intelligence report
- Cornerian army insignia
- pics of various enemies and bosses

Hey would you happen to still have those images? I'd love to see them. Haven't really been working on the actual arwing for some time. Been trying out more of jamlander, and well, haven't really got a lot of time either. I will finish it one day though...
