will a muscle system help in the skin deformation, because the poligons of my mesh intersect a lot?

Yup!

Although you don't have to go all the way into making a full muscle system, as that tends to be very complicated and a long involved process you should only attempt once you've got all the basics down. Lattices, sculpt deformers, influence objects (I like using blend shapes with set driven keys to simulate muscle deformations), and a few others.

Here's a good technical manual that should go over pretty much all of the methods you can use in Maya for these types of things. (Oh, BTW, that link is for Maya, you didn't mention which app you're using and so I just assumed you're using what I'm using, lol. So if it's something else, just google and I'm sure you can find similar sites.)

I'll jump in here for the Max stuff then. Just as was pointed out about using muscles with Maya it hold true with all packages. I have a muscle rig set up in Max 7 on my site but I can tell you that it is very time consuming and difficult to get something like that working.

Use the tools like Skin morph, Skin Wrap, morpher and other modfiiers to help correct the difficult deformation areas. There is no replacment for a well though out rig as well that has joints placed properly and bones and objects set up to help solve issues like arm twisting and deforming major muscle groups.

As a quick plug for myself I have two DVD available on intermediate rigging that you might want to have a look at. I was working on the third DVD on the weekend that will cover Skinning characters and a forth will be comming soon after that and will cover facial animation and rigs using morphing and bones systems. You can find the DVD's at http://www.cg-academy.net/dvds_menu_3dsmax.htm. I also have some information about rigging in Max and lots of scripts for down load on my site at http://paulneale.com
