Mucking around with the planet's surface. I'm not planning to leave that overlay on there as my final planet surface, but paint over it instead to keep with the over all style of the painting.
The Soprano section seems to have evolved to a swarm of squid-like creatures which I'm planning to mechanise in later steps. The alto section would have a variation on the same theme, but be more "firey".
It feels very Matrix 3 - Last Stand @ Zion here, so i may have to evolve the mechas in another direction. at the moment it's all "organic" and up in the air.
Like it? Lump it? Let me know.

Pivotal Point of destruction/creation.
The Barritone section represents the tremors of the "Planet" below, tearing itself apart from an internal destruction.
The Tenor section clashes with the Soprano section at the perimeter grid. The Altos join in to reinforce the Sopranos.
The Perimeter grid pulsates with the Rhythm of the clash while the "Planet"s ring of debris epitomise the Bass.
The descanting chants of energy spiral away towards a giant Star, which illuminates the backdrop with it's gaseous nebula.
Generally a lot of body parts, about to be torn apart.

The beauty of digital painting is that you don't have to have line art, and quite frankly, that's not how I work.
This is a colour study of the main Protagonists and Antagonists in my little clash. They are basically going to be cyborgs and robotic creatures clashing at one point.
Oh, yes, and I'm not afraid of colour.

hmm . . interesting approach. . . will check back to see how develops. thanks. "interesting", is what I usually reserve for something unexpected which I've eaten - like raw fish with too much horse-radish ;) but i'll take it without malice.
I like abstracting things and themes whenever I can, thus the "choir sections" within the theme of "Opera". It merely adds another layer to the image which would be otherwise be just, mind the pub, 2-Dimensional.

Extremely unique approach comparitively speaking. And I'm not quite sure how the whole choir parts fit into it, but it is very interesting (in a good way!). I'll be interested to see how this thing develops and what comes from it.
About the line art, I think it might be that every part of the challenge is judged equally, so I don't know if a little more time should be spent on the line art just to appease the guidelines?! Whatever, it's looking cool! good luck

it's kinda funny in that sense, because "they" have deemed that line art is part of the process of developing 2D art. I understand the need for such guidelines in terms of competition, after all one does choose to accept the terms and conditions of the comp when they choose to enter. However, I feel like a fraud if i were to include "line art" which wasn't part of the process.
I may choose to submit a few line art sketches for some of the organic forms, if i ever require them, bbut considering i'm painting straight onto the canvas as such, it would be working backwards.
It almost sounds terribly self-defeating cause I won't even qualify to finish/compete at the end *lol*
Oh well.
As for the Choir - it's just a variation on a theme (of the Opera). it's just helping me catergorise the separate elements within this clash.

hi, nice to see your work. Looks good, and interesting approach - the baritone/tenor etc stuff can give everything some structure and an excellent starting point. I don't know about the milestone scoring, and I agree that in digital drawing line art isn't essential (I usually manage without what woudl be strictly termed that) but if line art is a milestone, we'll have to submit something for that in order not to be disqualified. that's my understanding, and I beleive that's what milestone means. look forward to more :)

Looking very nice:bounce: It seems we are all in the refinement stage. Keep it up!
