About a month ago I built a new system after the old one drop dead, I have an AMD 64 3500, 1 gb corsair ram, mobo MSI neo2 platinum, GeForce 5700LE (latest drivers) running win2k.
My monitor, a 17" about 2 years old, doesnt seem to work as it used to with the new config, there's no brand on it, but with my old pc, AMD 2100, GeForce MX440, I could set it to 1280x1024 @ 75Hz and up to 1600x1200 @ 60Hz (useless), now the max res is 1280x1024 and max refresh rate @ 60Hz even at lower resolutions, my eyes are going to commit suicide in a couple of days!

Any idea, beside a new monitor!

thanks

Simple. Windows is detecting that monitor wrong and probably using a 'generic' driver... OR you were running the monitor too high before (but it would have died a long time ago if that was the case, so I doubt it).

There is no way the monitor has no identification on it in the back. Find out exactly what monitr is it, and either get a driver for it, or search what the specs are on that monitor and force your video card to run in the resolution/refresh rate that you want it to (as long as its supported).
