View Full Version : Guides? Am I missing something?
Tiziano 12-04-2004, 07:32 PM I've looked in the index of the manual as well as searching for 'guides' on this forum.
Doesn't c4d have guides like Photoshop where one just pulls them down or over from the sides of the window?
Either I'm really missing something right in front of me or the translation from German is.
Preparing to be embarrassed :banghead:

C4D doesn't have guides.
The closest thing to guides are grids.

Thanks,
I assumed that but it's good to have it confirmed.

Why not just use a long skinny cube?

Done the cube thing already. I just thought there might be a more elegant option.

I suppose you could make up a cube guide or whatever and store it in the library for easy set-up when you need it in a jiffy.

Thanks, it was supposed to be a donut but some think it looks like a chocolate covered bagel...

There is one: construction plane

Here's the deal and it's very simple really:
-Doing an arch vis of a room in an art museum.
-All the picture frames must line up with each other on the wall.
-The construction plane, as far as I can tell, is useless for this.
-A cube, box, square, or whatever does work but it requires extra steps and having 'guides,' just like keyboard shortcuts, is something worth thinking about.
Perhaps my brain is still living in the 2d world. I'm growing though.
If you go to "snap settings, world grid, no dynamic grid you might have some more success.

Well,
I figured out another way that seems to work.
1- I placed all the frames on the wall.
2- Switched to 'view 3'.
3- Turned all the frames 'off' except the one I'd placed perfectly.
4- Selectively switched each frame on and aligned it visually on top of the original.
This way, from this view, they are all stacked on top of each other and therefore aligned in perspective view!
See, I told you I just needed to escape the 2D world :bounce:
