I'll probably always see flaws in this piece, but for the most part it's pretty good.

I used Messiah Animate 5.0 and Lightwave 7.5c. It was all done on a Dell Inspiron Laptop.

Took a while to render, but hey, it worked.

See it here: www.randomanimation.com

Appologies for the horrid sight. I am in the process of making one now which will include sneak peeks at 2 more shorts I have in the works.

FYI, I've only been using Messiah for about 6 months and Lightwave for a year and a half. It's a hobby I'd love to do full time.

Nice work!
There's a lot of unneccessary character motion that distracts from what the eye should want to follow. I think some snappier poses (and holding them) and more restraint between them would do the piece good. Or future pieces. The voices are great.
I might have considered some camera work and cuts to break up the treatment and concentrate on this or that action / emotion.

Congratulations on finishing your short! Which Dell Inspiron did you use? What's the specs on the laptop (processor, video card, ram)?

It's an inspiron 5150 with 3 gig processor. It has one of those crappy nVidia Go5200 cards in it and a gig of RAM

I think you are right. The more I watch it, the more I see it. I wanted to give Vincent a real limp neck movement, but I think I over did it.

Thanks for the tips

Great job bradenbickle. The texturing and render quality is really good. It would have been nice to include some tighter shots so that the viewer could get a good look at the details of the characters. The voice-acting was great and it was quite funny at times.

True the animation is about rough around the edges, but considering the short time you've been using messiah and that it's your first completed short, it's very good and you should be proud of yourself.

I had to come up with a few cheats to get it to render in a resonable amount of time using a lot of front projection mapping. With that in mind, you can't move around alot so I just put everything into the acting.

Thanks for all the comments and criticisms. It will help me get better on my next adventure.

Incredible voice acting! I enjoyed it thoroughly. But, I'd have to agree about varying some of the camera shots. I believe even with front projection mapping, you'd be able to cut to a closer scene without much trouble and it wouldn't throw the viewer off - specially as the two actors are interacting. And immediately cut to a wider angle when the flies come into play. Great work! :)

I enjoyed it all the way through! Congrats and respect! Fantastic voice acting, too....felt very solid! I don't mind the fixed camera at all.

NOW, i'd love to see a little follow up.... ;)

Great work, once again! And thank you for doing it!

I was cracking up watching that. Very funny. Also, I would like to comment that that piece is better than some of the student reels coming out of some schools these days. I've seen plenty too :) I'd say send it out see if you get any responses.

As you said previously:

"FYI, I've only been using Messiah for about 6 months and Lightwave for a year and a half. It's a hobby I'd love to do full time."

Send it out as in send it out to companies and see who bites. Maybe you could end up with a job :) You never know. Thats all I mean't. I also agree with a couple of the animation critiques, the poses and motion that is. Also, I like the camera being static the entire time.
