View Full Version : Dancing Faun - Pan WIP

I created this model that I was fairly pleased with and thought that I'd make it more interesting by animating it. So I used the fairly obvious idea of him dancing to his pan pipes. I've been working on this for a while, but it still feels a little stiff and jerky. I'm not sure what exactly the problem is, so I thought I'd get some fresh eyes on this since I've been looking at it too long to be objective anymore.

I like the model, it looks great. The main problem i can see with the animation is he doesn't ever look like he's pushing off when he jumps in the air. There isn't really any extension of his legs, so it doesn't give him the proper weight.
Another problem is, although you've moved the shoulders to compensated for where his center of gravity is, it doesn't look like you have also translated his hips to position them over the correct leg, or at least not enough.
There is also a point where his foot seems to go through the floor at about 5 seconds..
You've made a good start, but with a few adjustments this could be much improved.

Thanks for the helpfull critique stu_vaz :) I'll redo the animation tomorrow and try and put your tips into practice. My tutors said weight would be the hardest thing to put into an animation, sadly seem to be right.
