In the candle thread, Kaiskai said something about attatching a light to a Spline point...

I don't know how this is possible... I'm looking in the manua, but i can't find any refference to it.

hmmm-well i would solve this with the bhodinut jenna plug. it is for example capable of attaching objects (and lights to a spline). or maybe use the tdem plug to emit the lights along a spline.

Its not a function thats inherently part of the software (unless you know coffee)

Try the plugin MVplacer (though Im unsure if it works with splines):

Also Multiple spline attach is a good one (MSA).

I use it all the time.

On the first page you reff: tag manager also looks like something I could use :D

Unfortunately I can't justify spending $80 at the moment, so I'll hold off on splineattatch...

What if you make a vert tag for one point, name the tag and then add a target expression to your light which contains the tag as the target.....not sure if it will work.Failing that you could use planes as separate object, make editable arrange the points the way you want and hide the rest,ie one point per plane, then try adding a target expression of the plane to your light....once again I dont know if it will work or not :)

Okay, it really doesn't matter if I have to use Splines or Meshes to get this to work... all I do know is when I replaced the sphere in Test3.c4d for MVPlacer, the light attatched...

having a little trouble figuring out settup. The readme file is missing, and I'm duplicating all I can see in the dialog but to no avail in my own new file..

Personally I use my own coffee expression now, but there are many plugins that do this sort of thing all with advantages and disadvantages.

I have replied also on BhodiNut site: Basically MV only works (seems to) with polygon objects....

This file helped me figure out how placer works (Rui macs' setup).

http://www.netg.se/~jasagraf/ruimac/

And placer only works with a mesh. MSA works with splines.
Also, Chestnuts allows multiple objects to attach to points o polys on a mesh--much like Jenna, only its free I believe. Check out plugin cafe.

thanks everyone...

MVPlacer doesn't want to work for me, unfortunately. I think there's a setting I'm missing, because when I attatch an object to a point, the object goes, but it won't move with a deformer the way it should...

I'm gonna try chestnuts next...

I noticed that my bend deformer animated in a very peculiar way when using MV.......

Okay, the problem I was having with MVPlacer is this:

it doesn't like working when there are no keyframes!

So it looks like I may be able to get it to work after all!
