Just refering to memory isnt it a Moomin? Anyway it looks great just like a stuffed toy :) well done.
They were woolen knitted stuffed toys with platemail or tiedye that were animated using wires in them to position the bodies. Their hands were made with pipe cleaners in and they could never positioned in the same way twice and certainly never how they were intended to. They started off in black and white (oh shite showing my age) on the BBC then went to glorious colour (which was really a bit of a shame as i imagined them being green as they lived on the moon an all) . They were filmed at a whopping 6-12 fps (they had to make one a week and stop go was expencive especially compared to that damn puppetere doing the flowere pot men (flub a dub)) Occasionally there was live footage mixed with them from 60s rock bands (when they found the tv (blak and white mind you) and guest appearences by sweedish designer furniture lightly desguised as a space rocket). they were really weird and whistled a lot. and despite all their shortcommings they still make my heart go all soft. sniff ;) but sorry they are not mummins

It's a Clanger!!
Now make me a dragon and the accompanying soup mine!
It's amazing what you can accomplish with a sock and a swanee whistle...
:D
:) YAY AJ Jar of cookies on its way, bit of real animation history there :)
Hey, tpe, nice Clanger!
I remember 'em too.
I'm tempted to render Bagpuss :)

how the hell do you make the wool look so good...damn im in awe
Hey thanks for all the nice words.
The wool was the most fun bit, and really quick, it was just a scanned jumper as the colour map desaturated and contrast added for a bump map. then the direction of the wool was changed a bit by playing with the UV maps, it works quite well for materials, but best for denim and canvas. then there is a little bit of hair applied using saslite in lightwave.
Here is a pic

I think i made a bit of a mistake on the levels though with the highest bits of the bump (white). The area of 100% white is too big, flattening of the bumps prematurely, With a bit more caution the flattening (on the cheek etc) could have been avoided.

P.S. I am searching for a concept of a nasty cartoon type animal with balls. to put into quake, can anyone help????

Hey, how did I miss this thread?
I loved the way you ended up in orbit if you ran too fast then had to be rescued by the iron chicken.
Now I know why I grew up so disturbed.
