I'm going to buy Maya 6 pretty soon here and I was wondering what a good video card for 200-250$ would be to go with it.
just for reference, I'm on linux, so nvidia is my card-o-choice

I could get a high-end vard from the fx line:
-easy to get an agp one
-anything's better than my mmx 440
-I've seen/heard they're good.

I could also hunt down one of the 6600's, they're hard to find for agp, but I've seen one or two.
-geforce 6 line is better than fx
-better maya/ut2k4 experience I guess?

So yeah, is it worth hunting down a 6600 agp
Cause basically, they don't make amd64 mobos with pci-express or I would have easily just got myself the pci-e 6600 or would it be just as good to get a 150-200$ one off the fx line and be happy? (I don't have 500$ to spend to just get the 6800GT agp like I'd lke)

do you already have a motherboard?

nVidia nForce4 boards with PCI-E are going to be available for purchase like any day now.

I've found a few places for pre-orders, but they still look pretty pricey. Granted, the SLI boards are going to be pricey, but I might just get the regular nForce 4 boards.

I currently have the GA-K8VT800, bought it back in september or so when I built my computer. I just haven't gotten the video card yet. Maybe I should just wait a while and get a new pci-e mobo?
