I have a layer folder containing numerous layers. Each are using the same layer style, but I would like to alter the layer style slightly. One solution would be to copy the new one and paste it over each other layer but this is time consuming. I tried to paste the style onto the layer folder but seems photoshop does not like this convention. Any ideas?

i don't think it is possible to automate it, sorry. maybe with an action it would be faster you'd still have to click on each layer each time http://www.tristinmodel.com/images/smilies/shrug.gif

next to the layers there is a little chain icon for linking layers. if you link all the layers that need to have the same style applied, you can 'paste style to linked' and get what you're after.

all the best

the best thing for you to have done if all the layers in the folder make use of the same layer style is too use the adjustment layer function. you place this on top of all the layers that you want affected and it applies that style to all the layers below it. this would have allowed you to change it once and have a "global" effect on your canvas. you can find the adjustment layer under Choose Layer>NewAdjustmentLayer and choose your options.

but if you have things below the layers that you don't want to be effected by your adjustment layer use the copy style and chain link the layers together and paste the layer style. which was said in a post above mine.
