red3d 12-02-2004, 07:12 PM i have been looking for a Model viewer for any game engine for a will now, but the ones i found the pipeline have been
a pain in the arse.
Features of the model viewer of my dreams ;)
view .OBJ (or any other format supported by maya)
textur
bump
spec
Enviorment map
and if possible Normal map
anyone know of a free model view that have support for this ?

Well, i'm not an expert in engine viewers, but i would imagine that the ones that would allow all those features you would have to pay for. I could be wrong of coarse. I do know Mview is free, it comes with DirectX. You may want to give that a try. Sorry if i didn't help to much, good luck.

I know of one, but I don't think it supports dx9
I'll post again later when I can remember what it's name is, but I know it uses straight maya files.

I've been using UnrealEd to view the models in a realtime setting. The one that I see a lot on this forum is QUEST3d. Lots of ppl posted there work with that app

There's a program called ORB that can act as a previewer for Texture, and Normal/Bump maps. It also creates them. Bad part is the lighting is terrible, and it runs off command line. Probably not what you're looking for, but I feel your pain bro. I've been looking for that same app myself.
