View Full Version : Deep Uv
Liamas11 12-02-2004, 12:57 PM Im currently using deep uv, (demo version) with 3dsm 6. My problem is When i hit "map selection" the map does not appear in deep uv. I have uvw mapped and unwrapped my model in 3dsm and want to use the relax function in deep uv. My friend has a full copy of deep UV and doesnt have this problem. I have turned off my firewall to see if that was the problem and still no luck. All i get when i hit map selection is my model in perspective view, and a black material box on the left hand side with 3 tiny blue lines. I also used pan to see if it was hidden anywhere but no luck. Any ideas?. Help greatly appreciated =)

it's been a while since i've used deep uv, but i'm fairly certain that you MUST collapse the object to "editable mesh" before you click "map selection". After that everything should work fine. Kinda lame but that's how it works...
you should also check out this script btw:
http://www.microcan.nl/uvHelp/uvHelpV2.zip chrome://targetalert/content/skin/zip.png (http://www.microcan.nl/uvHelp/uvHelpV2.zip)
it's free and does the exact same thing without the memory expense of having to fire up another program.

yea, i made it an editable mesh with nothing else on the mod stack, but still the same prob.. i found out what it was though! somehow the uvw unwrap had material 3 on it when i guess my object needed material 1. in case someone else gets this problem with deep uv, ill say what to do:
click on uvw unwrap in the stack, hit Edit, then save as, to save the unwrap settings. click on editable mesh or poly, in the mod stack, and make the material selection ID thing to 1. click back on uvw unwrap in the stack and change that material selection ID to 1 also. that'll fix the problem but erase your unwrap edit, so go to Edit and then Load the uvw unwrap edit u just saved. bam. now when u go back into deep uv to relax it, youll get the correct unwrap edit imported into deep uv.
thanks for the link to that script! i'll check it out. it looks like there wouldnt be a need for anyone to spend $700 on deep uv if that script works! its like a free one

Hmm, I got a question in Deep UV. When I Pack it, it breaks the nice big pieces up into lots of small pieces. Is there a way to Pack it while keeping the big pieces in tact?
