Just saw the new thread about the new softquadro (which got me really excited) so I went over to the NVIDIA website to check out the real Quadros available and I saw this at very bottom, listed under specialty products.

NVIDIA Quadro FX 4400G
NVIDIA Quadro FX 3000G
NVIDIA Quadro FX 600 PCI
NVIDIA Quadro FX 4000 SDI

The NVIDIA workstation solutions have been architected to meet the needs of a wide range of industry professionals. The NVIDIA Quadro® FX family features solutions that address the requirements of very demanding users advanced applications.

NVIDIA Quadro FX 4400G and NVIDIA Quadro FX 3000G provide multi-system scalability and synchronization for advanced visualization and broadcast applications. NVIDIA Quadro FX 600 PCI is targeted at users of applications that require extensive memory and full OpenGL 3D application performance across multiple displays at high resolution. The NVIDIA Quadro FX 4000 SDI provides uncompressed 8- or 10-bit SDI video out in HD or SD format and enables on-air broadcast graphics and digital video productions to be played back on broadcast equipments, monitors or SDI projectors.
The Quadro FX 600 seems to be the perfect solution to my long time desire to run Maya on multiple screens without using span mode. So I'm wondering if anyone here actually has the Quadro FX 600 who also happens to run Maya and if they can share their experiences on things like whether the shortcut menu pops up on the right monitor when you right click in Hypershade and whether Hypershade actually updates and displays properly on the second monitor, etc.

P.S. I do understand that the Quadro FX 600 has to be used in conjunction with another Quadro. If Maya does work on the second monitor then I will be considering upgrade my system.

Question:
You are running a 2 monitor setup?

What kind of card do you have now?

If you've got a card that already supports Dual monitors, why not use that? I get OpenGL accelleration on both screens with my Geforce 4 TI 4600 :P

As for the Quadro FX600, I would assume that it's main goal is to push as many monitors as possible (4 i think) and be in PCI form so you can put in 2 or 3 and get 12 or 16 screens on one PC. I can bet you that its 3D performance will not out pace something like say a Quadro FX 700. And judging from Nvidia's specs the Quadro FX500 has the same specs, but half the memory. Which makes me think that you can expect similar performance out of the two cards.
