Hey everyone. I've got an interview with Sony Imageworks coming up, and I was trying to find out any information on entry level rigging rates and such, as well as any interviewing tips. I'm applying for a character rigging/set-up position.
I've been told before by them that their animators start out making no less than 70K a year, and I've talked to a friend of mine who is older and is writing a book on Maya, works for Fox Studios and has his own little studio as well, and he said he figured riggers get paid an animator's salary, plus about 20% of that amount, so in this case, that would work out to 84,000 a year... Does anyone know if this sounds like a low or high number for this position in a large film studio???
I'm really stoked... I submitted my material and it passed the second review, and the second. Then it just had to be given the thumbs up by their lead supervisor TD person, and he liked it as well apparently, so I'm just waiting on a call back as to what time next week my interview is going to be, so I'd like to be prepared knowing what kind of numbers to expect or to push for. I've tried to find resources online that tell average incomes for these specific types of positions, but have had no luck... Does anybody know a place that I can look into for this kind of information?
I was also told when applying that they "aren't really hiring entry level positions for those spots", so I'm figuring I'll be working with a bit older (I'm 25) and a bit more experienced guys, who are also making a bit more than the animators... And the head recruiter told me that is his most prized department. So yeah, I'm figuring that provides for a bit higher rate of pay for them.
Anyways, any feedback or information is much appreciated.
