It does look pretty nice, but $170 - $200 for a DOF plugin..... seems kinda alot.

May be it's because it seems to be the best plug of dof. But it gives the cool result.

I never used Xdof, but I am pretty sure that you can do mostly the same with a Z-depth channel and a compositing program ... correct me if I am wrong.

also rendering the dof right into your image makes no sence .... or does Xdof create zDepth images?

was looking at the site earlier, but it doesnt really tell you anything bout how it works other than the fact that theres a mrfm shader (i think). it does however describe the product as some sort of rendering tool set and also supports motion blur.

ive looked through the gallery and the stuff there looks great, but i have to agree with mimo8 that it isnt really practical to render dof onto the image. it would be great however if that the end product was a clear image with a seperate layer to post process the image, something like what we do already with the zdepth blur. on the other hand, zdepth blur doesnt really look that good, not in digital fusion anyways.

so has anyone here found out how it works ?
