View Full Version : help fixing mesh
Tyger 12-01-2004, 09:55 PM Hi all,
a typically newbie question but i was hoping you guys could help me out.
I was wondering how i can fix this mesh here, i want to get rid of some of the edges to make a more square mesh. I know it was because i didn't make good cuts when i used the knife tool. is there a better way of doing this?
thanx in advance.

Are you using R9?

Well, if there's not a lot of them, I would go in poly mode, delete polies and rebuild them the way you want (probably quads...getting rid of triangles).
I would also check out http://www.astrofish.com/ I would get GeomCheck (free) and Spin Poly ($10). You'll be glad you did.
Check out the Spin Poly examples and you'll see how you can use it.

I have wrestled with R8 in the sense of adding geometry for detail on any given model. I appreciate Fre sharing his turntable model:

I am currently studing this one, but I am intrigued with Kalab's comment regarding R9. If he were using R9, what would the strategy be then? I have played a little with the R9 Demo and have recently ordered R9, so I am really curious how the new tools could be applied in this case. Thanks...
