View Full Version : compression problems
sigma 12-17-2001, 10:13 PM so i got this 1 minute piece of Animation i did for my reel and due to the paintFX in the scene i cant compress the file below 28mb! any lower and the trees in the background turn into blocks everytime theres movement. I need some help in reducing the file size. Anyone have experience compressing a movie that has paintFX in it? 28mb for a 1 minute file (360x243) is huge! isnt it?

Is the background moving?
Try compressing with the Sorenson compressor using After Effects or Media Cleaner.
If you try different settings you'd get a small file with a well accepted image quality.

Krugar: yes. The trees sway in the background. I should of passed on using PaintFX .
mind: Ive tried Sorenson using both After Effects and QT5, thats actually the copy i have on the site now. Still over 20mb
I guess divx is the only answer.
*sigma waiting patiently for a mac divx encoder.:p
Have you tried Media Cleaner 5, It comes with very good compression codecs and presets. I find it to be the best tool for digital video compression.

I havent seen your movie so i don' t know... but if you rendered out the trees as a still image, then it would compress alot better.
but if the trees need to be in focus and swaying, then thats a crap suggestion.
aye yeah. ahhhhh.
Have you tried the Microcosm codec that has been shown on cgchannel home page two or more days ago ?
Try searching Microcosm Plugin Home Page (http://www.theoryllc.com/)
I hope this will help !
