This is my first pass entry for the contest. VERY VERY ROUGH! I'm already working on some new ideas/poses for the characters/composistion. I'm trying to get that epic scifi film look! Had to post something, just to get myself into gear!

Is that character in the middle a dwarf? Anyways, looking good, and welcome to the ultimate challenge! http://cgtalk.com/images/smilies/scream.gif http://cgtalk.com/images/smilies/smile.gif

I think the character in the center looks more or less okay. It's like we're looking at him through a fisheye lens or something. The whole thing is great--it's a movie poster essentially, which is really different and fun. Keep going with it. I'll be watching this one!

good job on the guy in the middle at first i was wondering why everyone was thinking hes short but i think its cause the crotch line for the pants are to far down so it gives that illusion maybe if it went into the equipment around his waist that might help
i like the movie poster look you got too im a movie maniac got posters all over my room so this idea really appeals keep it up hope to see more

Thanks for the early responses! I realise the guy does look like an extra from Space Dwarves from the Year 3000 (the next cgtalk competition title possibly?), but that was only the first composition I really tried.
Definately going for that 70's/80's epic scifi poster design. Always loved them. I've reworked the layout a bit more, tried to make it more dynamic. I'll tidy up the rough and then scan it in.
Cheers again!

Great Start  Looking forward to more :) Only crit for now is that the foot on the left, his right, appear to be a bit wonky. Good luck

Hey there, sorry for not posting lately, too busy with work, etc! Here's an older sketch (unfinished as usual) of something more along the lines of what I had in minfd for the main character. Hope you like

WoW. Thats some quality pencilwork!
I specially like that face. Shaded very well with character. Did you use some reference for that one? Or the clothes.
I was never sure about that short legged fellow was it intentional, but now i think it was intentional after seeing your mad sketches.
Carry on!
