View Full Version : Environment: Feng Zhu inspirered bridge
Hi everyone, been working with this for some days now, mainly as an exercise in unwrapping and texture painting since i could use the experience. You may recognize it from a concept drawing by Feng Zhu. which inspired this scene alot.
I'm looking for some robot concept so i can build a robot to put in the scene...
Any C&C for improvement on anything in this picture is more than welcome
So fire away :D

Here's one without DOF, and some additional work done on the some of the pipe textures.

All 3D is done in Max7
All textures are painted and done in Photoshop
Rendering is done with finalRender stage-1 which i also used for DOF

Hey dennis
You have done a really good job. I like the lighting and textures.
Only thing, isn't the focus a little bit weird on the dof-image ? I would have done it on the door.
Cheers
Yeah your maybe right on that one... i'll give it a try over night a see how it looks... and maybe crank the dof down a bit too ;)

Hey. I like the picture very much, nice textures.
But what scale is it ? It looks like a toy-scaled model...
Comes mostly from the bumpy stucco textures, I think, and the painted-like edges on the walls reinforcements.
I agree with SideShow about the focus on the door.
Anyway, out of this scale problem (which is maybe intentionnal, and then all I'd have to do is to run and hide and chew my shame !) I really like the architecture.
Keep it up !
Waugh.

hey buddy, looking great! :)
i think the DOF on the first one might be abit excessive, a nice mix between it and the 2nd one would turn out much better IMO
keep up the good work
Hey buddy...
I'm making another render tonight... with less DOF and focus on the door, i'll post it here tomorrow...
I'm making some kind of robot to put in the scene as well.. i'll post some wips of that as well when i have some... should be tomorrow as well...

Looks good! I think you should add more details in this scene small details makes scene very true. Good!

Forgive my ignorance, but who is Feng Zhu?
I agree there is a confusion with the scale resulting from the bump mapping in the walls.
My main observation would be the metallic railing on the bridge itself. It looks too new for the general mood on the scene. Compare it with the piping, which looks rusty...
That and maybe a little bit more contrast in the lighting. You can see the cylinder in the lower right corner is obviously a cylinder, but the lighting makes it look plain, IMO.
The asphalt texture in the bridge looks too tiled. Maybe increasing the scale of the mapping or using a procedural noise instead of the bitmap would help there.
I hope that I am not too critical, I really like the image.

Reminds me of FFVII, inside the reactor.

Hi Dennis.P!
Nice Work! Watch my image: http://www.cgtalk.com/showthread.php?t=122191&page=1&pp=15
The picture has not finished yet.
Hi everyone
Thanks for all the advice and comments on the picture it's been really helpful...
I haven't got to all the changes i will do yet.. but i've reworked the textures on the brigde a little bit, to make it seem like i belongs more in the picture.
I will look at the bump mapping as well... i agree it could be better some places...
As for the DOF, it's rendering now, but that takes time, so i won't have it ready before tomorrow.
Anyways heres the Update!!

Cool! I like what you did with the texture on the bridge!
Thanks Juan.
Update!!:
I've made a image more last night where i added some DOF.
I've changed the focus to the door, since it makes more sense and i've decreased the blurring a bit... it may need to be more decreased.
But now i'm gonna work the bump issues on some of the walls...

Let me know what you guys think :)
Oh yeah and the Cylinder at the bottom of the image is being taken care of as well :)
