View Full Version : 30 minutes + 2 hours
This is the finished (or "more finished") version of my post in the speed-paint thread. I wasn't satisfied with the 30-minutes version, so I added about another 2 hours to work on it calmly. ;)

Crit? Nothing really... Maybe a little more defined shadows in the face, but when you start searching you'll always find something to crit, better keep it this way ;)

Hey Roel,
Really like the look of the character, and the style in which you have painted this.
There is only three little tech things that bug me on it. I think the three vertical brush strokes right near the left side of the head very really uncomfortable or really not part of the painting. I think it would look heaps better without these.
Also think it may have been nice to have a little more definition around the length of the nose. The bottom of it feels to me like it is just foating away there. This could be a highlight down the left side or just a little more shadow on the right. Just a thought.
Finally, the BIG name name running up the side really takes away from your work. You look at that characters eyes, and then bang!! at the name up the side. Just takes away from a really great piece.
Well done, really nice. Looks like it was worth the other 2 hours :)
oh, one last thing. Hair feels a little flat against the head in areas, would this push out a bit more or sit better if there was a little bt of a shadow cast onto the skin?? Not sure how this would look or work, but thought it may be worth a try.

I have to agree with Moshi. Thanks, Moshi! I'll work on it a little more. As for the big name, I just goofed up there because I saved a smaller file at first, and then forgot to reduce the size of the font when I decided to use a larger pic after all... Silly me.
OK, I updated it, but now I feel the hair needs to be fixed up a bit. No work of art is ever quite finished, is it...
