View Full Version : Need help on modeling a beer bottle cap!!!
kp0046 08-28-2002, 09:41 AM Hi there, I need ur suggest and helps to do model a beer bottle's cap. I used "loft" to create one but it doesnt look the same as the real cap esp the bottom part (the curves and edges). Pls I need u guys help me up on this coz it is very urgent work for me.
Please let me know if there r any tutorials that would help me up on this job (i m still quite new to 3d stuffs, i'd tried using the cross section to do it but i failed, and i dunno how to use the surface tools :)), i'll really appreciate if anyone can help me on this problem, thanks...

Hmmm, it seems to me that all you need to do is apply an edit mesh modifier and use a slight soft selection. If my eyes don't tell me wrong, the area between the out-pointing "teeth" have a slight slope inwards at mid-height and the creep outwards again, but only very slightly. For the "teeth" you should try grabbing the middle vertex of each one, and scale them into the center of the cap a little whilst sof selection is turned on.
Thats it for modelling, I guess give it a try ;)

heres what I think your problem is. This is a top view of the inside of a tooth
when these caps are made a machine with very strong, and small fingers grabs the smoth cap at many points evenly around the outside. this makes very small teeth on the cap, sealing the bottel. the inside of your teeth is rounded and not shaped as if a strong finger pulled it into shape.
