View Full Version : Where are my fonts?
comanche 11-30-2004, 06:37 PM Hi!
I'm doing some motion graphics these days in DFX+ 4.04c and I'm missing all the postcript type 1 fonts in the Text+ tool. Unfortunately there is no "Select..." button like in the basic Text tool, where I have no problems to choose one of the type 1 fonts by clicking on "Select...".
DFX+ is running on a XP Pro machine. Does anyone have the same problems with the Text+ tool? Or are there known issues?
Regards,
Andreas

You might need to upgrade to a later version. 4.04d, or 4.04e. I recall there being some funny things going on with postscript fonts when they changed the font renderer to be more "platform independant" (ie linux).

Nothing is mentioned about (fixed) problems with postscript fonts in the 4.04e release notes. But maybe I should give it a try anyway :-)
Thanks for the hint, Jason. I'll drop a line if the problem will be solved with the update.
Cheers,
Andreas

Unfortunately the 4.04e update does not solve the problem. I just wrote tech support.

Are you using "Adobe Type Manager" or any other sort of font managing software? I had the same problem with "Adobe Type Manager". If you are using "Adobe Type Manager" the only partial solution is to move/install all your Type 1 fonts to the regular windows/fonts folder. Only problem with that is that it defeats the purpose of activating/deactivating fonts via "Adobe Type Manager"

Thanks for your reply, icarus! I'm using the Bitstream Font Navigator to manage all my fonts and it seems to behave like ATM. It does place a link of the type1 fonts in the windows/fonts folder. If I install the fonts into the fonts folder directly the problem with the text+ tool is gone.
Thanks again!
Cheers,
Andreas
