View Full Version : edges to lattice? rail extrude? help?
little5points 11-30-2004, 04:53 PM I'm trying to come up with a quick solution for creating intricate lattice framework as shown below:

I recall seeing a plug-in a long time ago that converts vertexs/edges to polygon frames, but I can't find it. Rail extrude is taking way too long and the results aren't good.
Any help would be appreciated. I swear this seems like such a simple thing but I haven't used LW for months and I feel like I've forgotten everything :(
By the way, does anyone remember the name of the plug-in that snaps your polygon perfectly to the end point of your curve for efficient rail extrudes?
thanks all

Sorry, I can't remember the name of that other plugin either.

thanks, willcameron...that's what I was looking for. That script doesn't do much for the joints, but it's a quick and dirty model anyway
and cman...that is such a useful script! I lost it when they upgraded our machines. I tried the url you sent but when I logged in, it said I wasn't subscribed to the group?
thanks again for your help

i'm almost positive theres another one out there that does a better job but so far its alluded me, and i cant find anything in my archive of plugins from over the years (but truth to tell theres so many zip and rar files in there with the most amazingly nondescriptive
filenames it'd take forever to go through them....)
i do know Sean Hyde-Moyer has one that takes a mesh and converts it to 2 point polygons. I thnk its an lscript so it may be hackable to replace the polychains with tubes
or something.

thanks again for your help You just have to join the group. makeup a name or something. :)
There's a couple different scripts on there.
I attached the one ur looking for.
The "noreq" version just moves the polygon without asking about cloning/extruding.
I find it much more useful.
