View Full Version : Vehicle: LowPoly z3-Coupe
Daniel 08-28-2002, 06:28 AM Hello or Good Morning ;)
After two days I finaly finished the texture for my z3 coupe.
I baked the texture first, to get a basis to work on. But surface baking takes very much time :(
Another point where I lost very much time was the remove the surface seams. I wished I could Use a 3d painter. Should be easier with that?
I also want to use that Object for RealTime Web3D but there still some probs with vet :thumbsdow Maybe later..
oki here's the pic.

hi!!
great model I love it!
only thing is that in some renders ve can see the triangles. maybe because of subdivision level. smoothness is destroyed while in fact the car is very very organic. as a poly model it seems perfect.
as far as I know in automative industry (I mean in design progress) people use nurbs system (curves in 5th 6th degree) to get a perfect smoothness.

Very nice looking :)
Not really fond on the coupe version ( Why BMW??? Why? :) ) , but I think you did a great job recreating it.
Can you show us a wire frame shot?
Did you use UVmapping?
Great work :)

Yeah the polys are somewhat showing. And the frontgrill thing has what looks like a blurred texture. But it's lowpoly, so in my book it acceptable if due to budget-constraints (memory- and poly-budgets etc, not financiel :)) Same goes for the NURBS thing, can't use that in lowpoly scenarios :)
I wouldn't mind seeing the texture a little more sharp in some areas though, if there's room for such improvements. Polywise I'm happy though, it doesn't look "too" lowpoly. Hooray. I have a question, shocking as it may sound, but why is the car outfitted with those weird windows? Crosshatched..thingies..

THNX People.
Sorry that I did'nt wrote ist, but this are only LW Screenshots. Yes, hehe :)
Reflection etc. from a game would be cool and that car ;)
That U see some polys is coz lw do not have smoothing groups, like U know it from MAX3d :(
So the Object is smoothed with 45" degree.
I post a wirefame in some hours...Cya.

you should try putting this into the free racing simulator "Racer." check it out at www.racer.nl and try it. i make cars for it and it's pretty dang fun. :)

for a low poly car. this is a great work. however, your texture need a higher res one.

Hi,
thnx again ;)
here is a small rendering.
Hmmm, yes maybe the tex reso. is small but a engine with bump map support would be dam cool ;)
And if the car is moving than U don't will notice the small tex res.
Hmmm, oki cya.
BTW. Wireframe comes today...
