Does Cinema support tif with jpeg compression as per Photoshop etc?

Thanks

AFAIK there's no such thing as .tif with .jpeg compression. There is a compressed .tif format, which I believe Cinema supports. It may require QT to be installed, though.

Actually Stu's right, there is a few different forms of compression within the Tiff standard:

Group 3
Group 4
Packbits
Thunderscan
LZW - the most common
JPEG
Zip
amongst others...

the last two, Zip & Jpeg are extensions to the standard, which is why not everyone supports them... :hmm: Whether or not the particular app supports them or not is up to the makers (sorry, I dont know anything about Cinema)

Thanks guys

I suppose if I save a texture in PS with tif jpeg compression and it doesnt show up in the material window then the answer is probably no :hmm:

Adam the extras for tif are from pS6 on I think. You can find them in advanced options for tif compression something a rather etc,in preferences.

Chris good to see another Kiwi cruising around

Cheers

Wait wait... does Cinema support LZW?

I believe I was having trouble with those a while back before I installed the Poser Plugin (Poser does support LZW).

BTW, I've gone to useing JPGs exclusively for my textures as most are MIP interpolated anyway... so artifacts really don't matter all that much.

Ya I like tifs myself, and if I can have tif format with zip compression then yaaaaahoo  .Thing I dont like about jpgs is if you repeatedly re open and re save a jpg in say PS the quality will degrade markedly,I think the corners of the pixels become more rounded evrytime you re save, dont qoute me on that though, its something like that :)

LZW?....hmm not sure I will send Maxon a mail bud.

hehe... RTFM...

In Starfleet Command 2 (one of the few games I have) George Takei, playing Capt. Sulu put it very nice:

"Read the FINE Manual"

Ya that abbreviation always cracks me up too.I suppose a Star Trek game could not exactly use the the real meaning of the F eh :D
