My last character, modeled in maya 4.02.. should be into the work in progress section, as i'll never finish working on it, but i post these images here as they look fine to me :).
Nurbs modeling, converted to low res polygon then converted to Subdiv ( this is because I love spline based modeling and polygon mapping tools).
Faked GI with 50 direct ligths (all soft shadows), faked hdri (the lights are coloured by an image) and faked subsurface scattering with AW skinshader.
