I guess that less bump on the surface should be fine.

Man, I like it as it is. The bumpiness makes it more dramatic.
This is just my opinion, of course, but... don't touch it. ;)

Hey. The expression should be more devistating: if you widen the leg stance, both hands on the face, hunch the back.

in my opinion it looks more like stressed or in tention - than sad.
maybe have his arms hanging down,
a person holding his head from the forehead looks lke a sign of tension ... imo.

I agree. the stance is tense, not depressed. good observation...I like the idea with the arms drooped on the legs, but it might cause a "tired" type of look.
