just a simple question, will an Apple atapi 100mb internal zip drive work on a PC?
i'm guessing it should since it is IEDE.

Yes. Make sure you check the jumpers on the back as they are usual set to cable select.

I gave up on Zip drives 6-7 years ago when I lost all my work to the "click of death" syndrome all those drives developed eventually. CD and DVD burners a much more cost effective nowadays.

Recordable optical media can be just as flaky. It's amazing the number of people who don't know how to properly care and clean their discs and end up with coasters.
I lost 10 gigs worth of data from a firewire hard drive when I told my Mac to stop a file Move operation. It still thought I didn't want the files on the original source so deleted them for me. Stupid. But because I told it to cancel the operation it thought I didn't want the files on the destination either. So where the hell did my files go? :shrug:
