Hi everyBody

I am put the last touch to one of my biggest scripts , its called Xumi 2.0 .

it include a brand new way to control maya : Icon Context Marking Menu . in the new version 1.3 there is more than 180 menus available to do virtually everythings you need !!

want to see more menu ?

http://www.maya-xtools.com/temp/Display.jpg

they come with xPolyTools 1.1 , which have splitLoop , loop select , bevel vertex , extrude a face along a curve and many more cool little tools to speed up your workFlow :p

I didn`t find time to write a proper documentation for it yet , but the documentation of the previous version is still available at http://xtools.xteo.com

you can download the early Access version at
www.maya-xtools.com and you can go to the forum as well to post any comment or find some help

I am sure you all have your ways of doing things and its hard to change habit but I thinks any maya user should give a try to this context menu system . Alias is starting to use context mm on 4.5 so ....

personnaly I think ICM are the futur of UI but `cause I made them my point of view doesn`t really count so make you own idea

TRY THEM NOW :bounce:

well have Fun , I hope this will inspire you and make you want to create great Stuff.

Could you do us a favour, and split up the tools for download, so we could maybe use the polytools without the other tools?
This was a problem with the earlier xumi, I didn't like it (No offence! It just wasn't my thing ;)), and I think you had all the stuff in one script file? (Or atleast it was hard to take appart only the polytools)
I'd like to see your polytools, but I still don't want the other things in it :)

you can de-activate the ICM during the install in maya , and then use the self provide to test the polytools .

I won`t distribute the polytools as a stand alone , there are just a bonus for Xumi user and not really a big project .

Thanks xTeo for making this great tools available for the world for free. I think it maybe has more enchantments than the official 4.5.
For the other user that is concerned about the invasiveness of earliler xumi I suggest to give this release a new try. Because the invasive and not stable features are removed now, and the core of the technology is much more developed and enchanced.
For people that may not be confortable with the icons there is a option to stick with the text based menus which are same as the regulat marking menus in maya with the only difference that are much more efficient, in terms of having you to remember which shortcut acceses which button. Since they are all accesed on 4 buttons of your choice.
I my seld has noticed up to 3 times the workflow speed improvement, and also I can focus more on my work since I never have to move my eyes from the model that I'm working on.
Great tool. A must have for anyone who wants to get the work done faster and spend some time with the kids after all. :)

I really like it!

I think Maya is really struggling in some areas as far as interfacing goes.

I come from Max. While Max is a dumb down version of a 3d program i really liked the interface style. Using the Xumi HUD increases my work flow abit. It also alieviates the headaches I would get hunting things down.

And I'm not much of a hot key user. And my shelves are so full.

all the menu are fully configurable so you can edit any menu to add the command you use that wouldn`t be in the menu system yet .

to edit a menu you just need to wait a little when the menu is display and pick edit in the little blue box that appear.

it will open the ICM Editor that enable you to edit your menus.

you can easily copy item from your shelf to the ICM editor and vis-versa by right clicking on the Item you want to tranfert and choosing Copy To (ICM Editor) / (Shelf) .

for exemple if you want to change the north item of a ICM select it in the ICM Editor and rightClick on the shelf item you want to put insteed and choose Copy to icm editor then save your menu and Hop its done ;)

you have to bear in mind that those are context sensitive menu so you can`t really have a modeling menu , insteed you have a menu for face , one for edge , and one for vertex and in those menu are the command that can be apply to those type of componant .

I hope this help , I am gonna be working on the documentation so it all become more clear to every one .
