View Full Version : Texturing a goldfish.
neods 11-28-2004, 10:49 PM I'm doing a fish in 3d, a goldfish. I have modeled and rigged the fish and now its the time for texturing and shading. What are the important things in creating that kinda surface? I've made a the basic bump, color and transparency maps, but i cant get the surface to look real? What should i do?

The tricky thing with fish is that their scales are rather iridescent. So ideally you need to set up a shader which mimics this. No amount of textures can create this effect - you'll need to employ specialised shaders for it, or build your own shaders to create the effect.
