Just finished texturing my boxer not sure how long the texturing took but the model took between 8 and 12 hours to build. I used many body builder images for refrence to get the muscle structure as accurate as i could. Software lightwave and photoshop for texturing and touch ups.

The model is very impressive, but certain things seem incorrect to me:

He doesn't have shoulder muscles almost.
The eyes are too high on the head.
No muscles on the side of the ribcage (don't remember the word in English).

Good modeling, a shinest skin could be better no ?
Boxers are always wet :)

hmmm alot of people have mentioned his sholders, i guess when one day when i have time i will attack them but for now this is finished.

Dr.Smart- ya never know he might let his hair grow :)

dvornik- i used real life refrence for the head front and side view so im not to sure about the eyes being to high up tho i will take note of that for future refrence, yup i decided to leave the muscles in the rib cage out. i noticed that alot of people even boxers dont develop them as much as say a body builder.

flamedevil- very true boxers usually have a shinner skin from oils and sweat.

hypronost- thanks for the comment

And as always thanks to anyone who takes the time to comment on my work :)

Does anyone have any tips for morphing sholder joints into place while using bones? im having trouble with his sholders deforming funny? Im using lightwave 7.5.
Thanks :)

I have been trying to come up with a solution to that problem 2, and I have forund that the best way to do proper shoulder deformation is to use aditional " muscle" bones. thes are guideb by the IK bones, but are anchored to the collar at their rot, and bulge accordingly. go to...

www.lwhub.com for the tutorials and the MusclerAfterIK script. I found that really useful.

Later.

PS, v cool model mate, I like the glow you get from the skin  how did u do it?

hehe, short and muscular, just like a boxer (not the dog, even though the decription fits it aswell :))

really nice modeling!

Only a few crits.:

1) I would "pump-up" some muscles on his neck (and shoulders...but someone else already told ya).

2) I don't like the gloves at all...I do some boxing in my spare time, so I know them well (especially when they hit me in my face! :p )

BTW, great modeling skills. The biceps are perfect!

seems like i lost a post or 2 :hmm:

Dr Dardis- thanks for the great tip and the link. That should come in very useful. The glow in the skin is created from having a good diffuse map, double bounce raiosity and the specail touch in photoshop ;) a copy of the image slightly blurred overlayed over the entire skin area :)

RobinOberg- yup just like a boxer

AXE- thanks for the critique. i didnt have much refrence on boxing gloves i kept finding punching mits buts no boxing gloves so i tried to picture what they looked like in the rocky movies. I dont think they are true to real life either, Glad you like the modelling :)

Few crits to improve the details of your model:

1. add more wrinkles in between the eyebrows and put some scars and imperfections on his face. He is a boxer and not a movie star!!

2. the sternal notch is too sharp; the serratus and deltoid muscles are absent (these are their scientific names).

3. is that a knife I see hidden in the right leg of his shorts? maybe not. . . .:shame:

I like the veins, but the face is respectfullt far from done, and the body is generally cartoonic, if you are going for perfection reality then your not done, but for a basic anatomy you were satisfactory

Ok I have a couple of anatomical things to point out.

1. Lips need more detail.

2. The Pectoral Muscles attach to the humerus and to the clavial - which they don't here - you also need to remove the crease that goes over the shoulder.

3. You need to add the Serratus Anterior Muscle group.

4. Add some colour to the vessles.

5. Pores - add them

6. Skin tone needs to be a touch redder in the areas that arn't in alot of light

7. Add the clavical and the deltoid muscle group.

8. Belly Button needs to be refined.

9. The Abdominal Wall is too wide.

10. Nipples need to be re-done.

11. Muscle Distribution needs to be a bit more even.

12. Eyebrows and Eyelashes

13. The creasing in the forhead and around the eyes needs to be stronger

But they're just things to note if you intend to make this photorealistic.

Of course these are just tips for a hyper-realistic version. The character itself is a little stylised.

It looks great and I love the skin and leather texturing on it.

Great Work !!!!:applause:
