This is a 2in thumbnail that I sketched to get a feel for the simple style of the basic body armor These soldiers are mostly for pagentry and are not very efficent. The Murren have not faced agression for several millenia, so they thought it would not be necessary... they were wrong..

the last drawing is the strongest. what kind of environment will the priests be in? any thoughts on what your color scheme will be for it?

Thanks for asking!!
Hillartsympho, the final show down between the Priests and the Gulva will take place in one of the main city streets miles beyond the temple. Lots of rubble and bodies and various military craft parts the atmospheric landscape will be composed of primarily of hues of amber, cyan, some greens. the vehicles will primarily be flat toned black metallic except for the (hero)ships I am trying to draw attention to, the buildings in the city are made of indigenous rock and metals which resemble the texture of masonite.
I am open for suggestions as well once I submit the final concept rendering.:arteest:

This scene depicts the infiltration of Th’jar’el the southern city closest to the Murrengith temple. As the invaders have stepped up their attack with an assault using the Dirjemetale a heavily armed and armored destroyer, that has ended many a war in the past for the Neliogulvat.
The Dirjemetale has broken thru the city street has begun its subterranean assault, while 3 Guardian priest continue to fight above ground.

Impenetrable D thanx for the help with the helmet! :)
One of the best sketches was the priest. Until i noticed in your concept sketch there is this monster with 4 arms with great perspective and good line work
Nice muscle structure. How bout adding 2 sets of pec muscles just like mortal kombat goro? Would make it more powerful looking. Also the arms woulnt be only working with shoulder power.
Thats enough for lineart start painting in the pic. Good luck!

Thanks for the suggestion Falcor these guys, can do some pretty interesting things one of those is torso lengthing and contracting, when I get a chance I will do profile to show you how this happens. When they compress as in this (ILL), there lower arms actually rotate inside a separate socket that has a larger and more dense. Lat- Dorsi and Trapezius connection.
They are pretty unconventional brawlers, I might get a chance to show this with the 2 mid ground guardians. Thanks for the advice, I got to get busy!
I'll be peeking on ya later.

looks like you have lots of work to do the next couple of weeks (like me) :)
thanks for commenting my entry, here are some suggestions:
try to get balance in every drawing, keep on sketchen and roughing your characters in until they don't look like falling over...
keep in mind that elegant, tall and long characters are generaly more fun to watch. try to concentrate on your arms...they have the tendensy to grow rather big!
don't be affraid to use lots of lines in your sketches, as long as you have the proportions ok!
I wish you lots of good luck and another thank you for commenting my entry

Oh really belated Happy New year to everyone. Here is to prosperity and helping your international neighbors in crisis.(cheers)Got all major flats established now I will build on these adding more depth and line variation, yes that is a gradient sky its basically a marker fo rthings to come the piece is monotonal right now it helps balance my eye a bit.
I have also decided to add columns on the right lets see how that goes. Back to work then.

Im really interested in your coloring technique. Usually when seeing something like that i end up thinking maybe its just a new technique. Since only the end result really matters. Thats what its all about.
But using burned black to create base colors is not the choice i would make.
Infact i would remove it totally.
Why not aim for comic book look with 2 or 3 color tones for each set? One area for hilite and other for shadows. Middle one for base color.
Just keep at it. Challenge ends pretty soon! I want to see those 4 armed guys in your picture. Do all the easy stuff first so it will look like you have done more than tackling with hard stuff at first and ending with nothing.
