Hi all, :)
I was there lookin at the re to my other post and I saw that at the end of a re MattClary was talkin about tattooing the FPrime logo on his other arm ... so I went to harvest informations about this other Worley Labs plugin ... saw all the vids, read all the infos they give about it, read the 'user experiences' and I saw that Leigh van der Byl (you worte a great book!! :applause: ), Nick Boughen (I'm goin to buy your book too!! ), and of course MattClary :D wrote good or enthusiastic comments about it ... BUT ... Worley Labs says:"[...] FPrime is not a previewer. It is a renderer [...]" and after few lines says:"[...] Unfortunately its -talkin about LightWave- design does not directly support replacement rendering systems. [...] since LightWave does not share all of its scene information [...] limits are no shader or image plugin support, nor LightWave volumetrics, so these effects simply do not appear in FPrime. These limits currently include our own G2 and Sasquatch plugins. Other limits are LightWave glow and lens flares. [...]"
so ... here there's my question:

Since FPrime doesnt 'comunicate' with others plugins and some LightWave effects too, is it to be really considerated as a renderer? Or is it better to be considerated 'only' as a GREAT helping hand? :curious:

Anyway I think FPrime is another GREAT :buttrock: product from Worley Labs and an unquestionable essential plugin for an advanced LightWave experience!

Thanks all!!
Cheers!

I use it as a previewer, interactive compositing of your scene, yummy. specially great when lighting your scene. I have a lot more confidence in lighting than before I got fprime.

The rendere I use if I don't need the sfx. Wich is about 80 % in my case. Even for print work it does wonders. You render a scene and in about 2 minutes you have a standin so you can continue working in Photoshop whilst the render cooks to a good level of aa.

Wouldn't want to be without this plug.

sorry JrDesign...

i got a question about Fprime...
when i use Fprime to render my character(which is rigged and IK), Fprime only renders out the image that was non-'rigged' which it still looks like an inanimate character.....what is the problem? what should i do? or is it because lightwave didnt share all the scene file information?

sorry for my poor english

thank you in advance

Add FPrime displacement plugin to the rigged mesh (object panel properties > add displacement).
If it doesn't refresh automatically, use FPrime Refresh, or just move the timeslider (this option allways works, even when FPrime refresh doesn't).

You need to add the FPrime displacement to the character and make certain that its subdivision order is set to something other than "last."

In regards to using FPrime as a final renderer, I'm using it right now to render a complex short film. It completely kicks ars*. There are good workarounds to every limitation, and its speed cannot even be compared with the native renderer when using radiosity. I also find the image quality stupendous, with absolutely gorgeous motion blur.

don't forget to read the manual before use and ask about. All infos are in worley's note.
If you don't, then your next question is 'How to remove all Fprime shaders from my objects?'
The answer is to use 'Strip Fprime Shaders'.
have fun and rtfm. hope it help.
