Dave Anderson 11-27-2004, 02:59 PM I detached my model's arm from the torso uv mapped both , and when i went back from the Uv modifier to the editbale poly ,to atach them again , when i checked the map after ataching it was corrupted , can anyone tell me what my problem is ?

You need to collapse down before re-attaching (sounds like you're using Max). That's what the warning was talking about when it said if you click the editable poly below UV map on the modifier stack.
So once you've unwrapped your separate pieces, collapse the torso down to editable poly, and then attach the arm (you don't need to collapse the arm before you attach it.)
