" The Vision Of Russia "
45mins Photoshop Mouse (hopefully getting a Wacom for Christmas)
EDIT: Just realised this could seem quite confusing as russia is generally a snowy place (correct me if i'm wrong) and this picture looks like a desert,
my thinking is that as it is a vision is would be a future, and this world is experiencing global warming, sooo, it would turn quite hot...i think
Goro> nice work... as always!
2,5 hours, Photoshop 7, mouse.
Yeah I know, it's pretty crappy. Maybe on the next ones I'll try to stick to the old cartoon style

Goro and Fridayeve... as always great great work. Someday I might become half as good as you guys... practice practice practice..
Erikoinen- i like that backround sky. The colors are very nice fiery, like made- in-uterus said it does resemble the mushroom bomb.
Made -in -uterus - I like your little guy, figure drawing takes me a long time, im impressed that it took you only 30min. I like ur little guy cause if you put a red coat on him he would like like santa claus.
everyone else nice work.
11-28-2004, 12:43 AM
About 2 hours, Hb, then scanned it and i added some colors with photoshop.
11-28-2004, 02:39 AM
For some reason, I'm not getting an idea for this topic. So I'll just comment.
Goro, Erikoinen and FridayEve - excellent as always!
MtFR - I'll drink to that!
everyone else, good work!

Madein Uterus-- i like your little tundra fella, nice and warm, isn't he?
Here's my awful addition- 45mins in photoshop with mouse (I know you're all thinking 45 minutes, i could have made something better with my phlegm in 5, remember I'm learning though!):D http://picserver.org/view_image.php/T62TTKWVA9CS/picserver.jpeg

Good work everybody... interesting work!

11-28-2004, 09:47 AM
GOT!, I'd guess you went faaar away from Russia.. All the way to Taiwan or somewhere there. :) Russia is the neighbour country for me (I live in Finland) and as I see Russia (visited once) there the rich people commands the poor people, and most of the people in Russia are poor, which is also shown in the conditions of the most cities and towns. Alltho, I might be wrong but that's my vision. Then why didn't I draw it like that? I can't!
Napoleon had a vision of Russia...
1.25 h, painterix, no ref.
11-28-2004, 12:40 PM
Hm... according to todays entries one would believe the cold war is not over yet.
Anyway, here's my contribution to the cliches.
3 hours in Illustrator.
11-28-2004, 01:24 PM

i got the time so i figured i tried a more serious aproach... been a long time since i done that... so this is a 4h result with a reference pic hopefully its worth the time...
11-28-2004, 01:31 PM

Thought I'd try doing this one in Painter ix. (found I dont really like the UI).
Painter ix: 2Hrs
Good job you guys.
about 3 hours, PainterIX still testing it.
roberto, you should post more often ;)
vitriolic, the flavor is definately USSR mate!
depleted, good job on the perspective. And there's a story behind it too.
GOT, everytime I look at that pic I expect the lil people to move... That pic screams 'animate me!'
jeroen, I really like your vector work. And that pic not a cliche, it's a fact... Sukhoi's and Mig's do fall apart, especially on airshows :D
madeinuterus, that's just brilliant man!
drawmonger, finally using some colors, eh? ;)
cris23, good pose and expression. Used ref?
commodore, don't die man, I don't want that on my concience :D Thanks mate!
lordapophis, hold on and some day you can live with the UI. Believe me the UI of my old painter5 was far worse.
keem, you keep that up and I'll give my levelup-vote to you  this week.
Ok, these are the guys I can see on this page... but I know there were also great ones on the other page. I remember Goro's (that's the red square allright! Glad you're posting more often), and Fridayeve's.
Keep drawing people!
(man I still can't catch my sleep after this 'long' reply... I'll be worth shit tomorrow, again)
11-29-2004, 03:51 AM

11-29-2004, 05:16 AM

11-29-2004, 10:59 AM
cris23, good pose and expression. Used ref?thx... and yes i used refs for back- and foreground.
i'm still trying out some methods in ps. the 3 pics i posted were the first i made on the pc.
hope i'll improve my skill soon. u guys are just so inspirating, its always a pleasure to watch your new entries!
Thanks robinayles, Keem!
I particularly liked yours Keem because it makes a good difference from the other drawn girls invading the web nowadays (including some I did too :arteest: ) by that it has CLOTHES on her!!! Which is cool to see something different.
Sorry for the misuse of English, I'm always learning :banghead:
Oh yeah there IS a lot of drinking going on around there. I'm scared like a little girl when I think about how they drink in Moldova (that's a country that separated from Romania, currently being between Russia and Romania) so damn it must be flowing in rivers farther away in Russia
PS: no offense intended to anyone by what I've said (especially if I'm mistaking) or by what I've drawn.
12-02-2004, 01:58 PM
i'm from Russia... ;) thanks people ;) it was really fun to realize that all over the world almost everybody still thinks that Russia is a country where only Rasputin, bears, snow and communists ;) so fun to see that - when you know that it is not so here ;)
12-05-2004, 08:20 AM
Although it's very late, and this isn't a good drawing, I have a huge interest in Russian history and I doodled this up for fun.
12-06-2004, 04:38 AM
