View Full Version : soften hard edges !?
lowkey 08-27-2002, 04:20 PM hi all,
this is my first ever attempt of modelling something nice, so don't be too harsh with the criticism ... ;)
my problem :
how to avoid getting those ugly hard egdes like to be seen in the above test render ?!
will i have to merge vertices of the extruded polys or what ?!

merge vertices is a solution but if u extrude ure face connect them in the channel box under "keep faces tog"

You may not have enough geometry to round out that edge. Short of changing that, with polygons you can try to soften the normals (geometry menu, polygons, soften normals, soften all).

thanks, but swag's advice already helped a lot ! anyway, i'll check out your recommendation later on ... :)
hm, not sure but I think if you use the channel box for keep faces together you have to apply that every time you extrude
you can also use polygons/tool options/keep faces together, now they always stay together until you change this
