Hey all animator skaters,
Just thought I'd add to the new forum with a small clip. I was looking for a good acting bit to add to my demo reel and the 10second club had a neat audio clip by the whacky Jim Carrey. Gave it a shot.

heh this is cool. I like it alot. I love it how sometimes his eyelids close involuntarily of the other (well it appears like that anyway).

cinema/max/lightwave/maya/xsi -? which did you use?
keyframe/mocap/mocap+keyframing/etc - ? what technique did you use?
Got a link to your reel?

Gracias for the comps. It's all an effort to break up symmetry. I'm surprised you noticed that as such a small res.

The deets:

Software: Maya, native render, Rigged with Final Rig by Radiant (sweet!)
Technique: I found a wicked technique for this one. Rather than pop through and step key the whole clip (sometimes poses don't flow into eachother expectedly) I posed to posed one section/sentance at a time (on linear keys). Went straight ahead after that until the section was final. Then I pose to posed the next section. If you were to equate it to food, it's like eating a 7 course meal rather than 1 big one.

I liked it a lot! I thought it was a great idea to have him walking back and forth a bit while he talked. It's a great line from the movie, and I think you did an awesome job with it!

No way, Ryan Cronin! I'm a huge fan of your work! If someone asked me to pick a favorite animator I think it would be you. I love Typical Male Robot Behavior! Holy, sorry for sounding like such a fanboy...

This clip is great, even with the sound off you could almost tell it was Jim Carrey just by the movements. Wish I could add a perceptive crit here, but I'm not nearly at that level, I'm still trying to make a decent animation (ugh).

You're in London now? I thought you were in the States?

hahhah I love the animation reel! That's the best.

What movie was that advertising again? I distiction remember that voice over and the parts:

you're fired.. you're fired.. no you're REALLY fired.. I'm fired

and then the guy has the 'oh crap' expression on his face.

Oh and yeah the bit at the end with Beyonce's Naughty Girl cracked me up.
Nice one
