View Full Version : Dynamics 2 for hair?

Hey all, need help with dynamics 2 for R9. I've been trying to get either poser5 hair or hair department hair to act dynamically in R9. I'm trying to do the softspines thing in the maxon examples. I've checked out that scene file and can't figure out how the splines where connected to the torus. I've got my setup the same as theirs except I've used a sphere in place of a torus and the hair.husk splines from hair department to act as my softsplines. I scrapped the hair department geometry and used a sweep nurbs like in maxon's example as the geometry for the hair. When I apply the dynamics the hair just falls off the sphere... it doesn't even act like strands or anything, more like rigid body dynamics. I'm baffled. I've checked the maxon scene and there doesn't seem to be any relation between the spines and the torus except proximity and heirarchy, which I've duplicated. It should work, right? Or am I missing something. I wish I could post a pic, but I don't have access yet. Sorry.

How many times do you need the same answer? It's still the point mass you have to set to 0.
CINEMA does not behave different on CG-Talk then it does on Renderosity ;)

Some confusion here: to my knowledge there is no Dynamics 2
If you have access to Mocca2, then use the cloth.
Cloth (as dynamics) works only on POLYGONS (which means you have to convert your spline Nurb things to POlygons by pressin C-button).
Dynamics (1) would work pretty similar, but the softbodys dont colide with Bone-deformes geometry, so you would have to use colission Proxies (Polygonspheres) to move with the head of your character.

How to use the Clothide in doing hair, cos I try onece but didn't work well. because it did not move together with Bone-deformes geometry in the Character. What is the trick to doing so? (to make it work very smooth)

looks like you did not define the belt object/collider?
Hard to tell without the.c4d file.
It definitely should not look that way.

belt points & collider tag for head needed, definitely. You also don't have to put the haircloth into the hierarchy of the character (bones won't have any influence on it anyway). Its a separate dynamics object whose relationship to the rig is only defined by collision and belt points on the cloth that 'stick' to the head model.
