Hey..I just tried my first group....set it up fine....when to the dope sheet (instead of graph editor) and then tried to select my group....just got a bzillion 'Groups' being written in a masive long list.....boohoo...what am doing wrong....or is it the sw?

The dope sheet has several options to limit what is displayed in the list. Right click on the top of the List to get to the options pop menu (Current Item, Descendants, Hierarchy, Group, Selected Items, All items, Use item list). Group is broken down into additonal subcategories including:

Primary:Controls
All Associated Groups
Auto Primary Group

Actually I think that was not his problem :) Sometimes, for some mysterious reason, you can get a neverending list that just displays the name "Group" over and over again when you click the menu, this happened to me once too. Don't know anymore how it went away, but chances are that when you close messiah and reopen it, things are back normal again. Otherwise try deleting your config file, maybe this helps.
