View Full Version : Arg!! Scene won't open anymore!
AlexK 11-25-2004, 08:34 AM Hi guys! The topic says it all. Messiah crashed while I cranked up the Photon Count a bit too much and now the scene won't open anymore. Not even the autosave.
I attached the FXS. Any help appreciated.

You're not going to like this.....It is vitally important to incrementally save your projects, objects etc.....if you've done this can you go back to the last version....if not...then I'm no expert but I think again that MPJ files are more editable....do you have one of those?
Sorry I can't be anymore help.....someone out there will I'm sure....But do remember that good old incremental save (lightwave has a good system now....how about it Lyle?....a key assigned incremental save feature?)
Hey eveyone....help this guy out!

Yes I know about incremental saves. But sometimes I forget to do that, despite the fact that "STRG+S" is way better in workflow terms. And as I don't trust Messiah to be very stable, sometimes I nearly "STRG+S" after every step. Try doing that with incremental saves. :banghead:
How about an option for incremental saves on a shortcut pmG?

Or is it possible to write a script/plugin/etc that is able to do an incremental save on a shortcut?

Hi Alex...Glad you didn't take it the wrong way.....re Messiah not being stable are you talking studio (which I have no knowledge of) or animate? If you mean Messiah Animate then something is probably wrong with your setup - I find it to be very stable...if it is MA, try deleting your configs (probably best to back them up first - he he he ) and re-starting MA...you really shouldn't be having a stability issue with MA.......

We are talking not completely unstable here. More a little bit overcautiousness on my behalf. I get the well known crashes after creating bones from time to time and I sometimes shoot my system with render settings that are way above sanity.

Hi AlexK,
I had a look at your file using a text editor (*.fxs files are just plain text files, so you can read them) and tried setting the photon count to some other values, but still could not open them. Do you remember what exactly you did before the crash occured ?

Sorry Alex...seems I was wrong regaring FXS files...they can be read.....
Hey Alex,
your crash seems to be related to autorig. Take out the Auto_Rig.mp from the plugin folder and you should be able to load your scene again.
But messiah crashes as soon as you try to go to the render tab or save the scene again. So maybe try editing the photon count in a texteditor as Suricate suggested...
EDIT: Ok, I tried several things, and this scene really seems to have a problem related to the render module. But even when I completely take out the render module from the messiah installation, the scene crashes when I try to save it. Sorry can't help more here I'm afraid...

Damn. I knew it was related to AutoRig, but I never would have guessed that it would be as easy as taking autorig.mp out of its folder. :scream:
Hm, but that the render thing still breaks the scene is a pitty. :hmm:
If anyone could tell me what is wrong with it (pmG guys preffered ;) ) you are welcome.
Thx all for your help so far.
