I'm building a new workstation. I use basically rhino3d and 3dsmax 6.0, first for modelling and second for modelling/rendering with Vray/Brazil.
Basically, i need a workstaion for rendering static scenes (no animations).
I'd buy a dual Xeon based system, but i don't know which system between followings it's best for what i do

- dual xeon 3.06 512kb L2, 1GB Ram

- dual xeon 2.8 1Mb L2 Nocona, 1GB Ram

How much L2 cache size act on performances ?

In 1st case i'll opt for an ASUS PC-DL MB (AGP8x)
In 2nd case i'll opt for an ASUS NCCH-D MB (AGP8x)

On the other hand, choosing a pumped up P4 platform (for example 570 + 2GB RAM) despite of a dualxeon platform , could be a resonable (and cheap) choice or not?

Any guess?

Thanks
bye
