View Full Version : modeling demo reel (nudity)
Here is my demo reel in progress. To make it easier to critique, I'll separate the models into posts. This way, you don't have to talk about the whole thing, you can talk about whichever one that strikes you as being worth commentary. The first one; a baby.

the legs on the baby dont look very good at all..did you pose it like that by rotating the legs? is there a "rig-pose" (for lack of a better word I guess) for it? I mean with the legs straight down..like on the very nicely done woman model :)
the horse was kinda cool aswell I guess :) didnt look at it all that much since Im more into biped stuff..heh :)
a car.

Hey.
I like the woman, good proportions. I'm so fighting for good proportions myself :banghead: , that I'm always a lil'bit jealous when I see some good model...
Keep it up !
Waugh.
Thanks guys.
Flow3d- Yeah the baby is very much a work in progress. Posing the legs in that position is faster than rigging then posing. Will smooth and model some more.
Waugh- I stick pretty close to the reference. Just use photo reference as image planes man; go to www.3d.sk (http://www.3d.sk) . Will post more later.

Is it me or does it seem like there are many many more posters in this section lately? Forum reorganization notwithstanding.
This is a guy I'm working on. Any advice on how to get rid of that dark edges I with GIJoe would be appreciated. I'm gonna use regular Maya Software to render cuz I don't have much time. Also, 'set to face' freaks my computer out. Like kills it.

A werewolf. Might not texture it.

Hey. Thanks for the advice, this site is cool.
Just a crit about the wolf, his human hands should be stronger, thicker and muscular. And... some fur, maybe ?
How do you plan to build your demo ? How long, etc. ?
Waugh.
I plan to make this reel about 3 minutes, there's a particaular song I'm thinking of setting it to. I see what you mean about the werewolf, what I was going for was an animal more closer to wolf than a human, so that you are surprised when you see the hands. Like how I'm surprised when I see the hands and face of an oppossum.

nice but i think you can demand more from yourself. it's look like you intend to make realistic characters. it's in the right way but more details and cleaner mesh will make the different. i like the woman model, yet she can be improved. can you post some close up of the head from 3q and side? i know it's easy to say... i'm struggling to get some good modeling ..
keep it up
On that note, here's the baby in progress:

Hi. I'm fine thanks for asking. Actually, how does it go? It goes slow, my friends, it goes demasiado slow. And the deadline comes frighteningly fast. gah! Here's a smile test for the woman. Be nice por fa.

One piece of advice, get rid of the chess set. We know you have knowledge of 3d space, employers do not want to see something that an ameture can do. Everything else looks very well done.
Dag, the chess set is one of my favorite ones. Is it the render or the modeling that you don't like?

I forgot to add shots of the building I'm doing.

There are more proper ways to model clothing, gunslinger, like the ones outlined in the "cloth topology" thread in the maya forum. Since I was going for a quick, immobile pose, I opted to basically use the sculpt tool for it. I start out with an earlier, simpler version of the mesh, duplicate it, cut off the hands and head and feet and shape and smooth as I go. All the detail pieces like buttons and straps I sculpt separately and on later.
progress on ze car.

can't seem to make the wheels grounded (not floating). I'm using GIJoe.
